The stupid decisions that have been made in the wake of the oil spill also illustrate the sad state of affairs within our government.

I'm not saying that democrats are any worse than republicans. They are all bureaucrats and that's the problem. What happened to the America that when confronted with a challenge or threat would simply cut the bu!!sh!t and get the job done?

True ...... to an extent. If both parties were working towards what is best for the country, rather than what is good for the party.

Right now, the best thing we can hope for is a total government lock up till the Nov. elections.

Enough damage has been done that I don't know if we can pull back from the cliff or not, regardless of the outcome of the November elections. The "stimulus" money was squandered when it could have and should have stimulated the economy thus creating jobs and optimism. Now with the health care disaster, states going bankrupt, Europe, 0% money, and more bad legislation being passed almost daily piled on top of what has turned into a depression we are on the brink of serious deflation with no arrows in our quiver. Someone with no experience tends to make the wrong moves at just the wrong time based on what they "hope" will be a positive outcome. Rarely are the results what they anticipated. Unfortunately it is you and I who are left to pick up the pieces from the disaster they create.

in order to stop a train wreck, you must first slow the train down. that means shutting down the fuel supply and applying the brakes. we can and must start slowing this train in november, or yes, we're all screwed.......
