What was your first motorcycle?

Mine was a Yamaha YZ125 enduro, don't remember the exact year but it was an early 70's machine. It only ran a few times but I quickly sold it and bought a '72 Yamaha DT-2. Man, I rode the wheels off that thing! First I striped it down for off-road and was an avid off-road rider for about 4 years. After that (pressure from the wife) I put the street equipment back on and rode it for two years on the road. Fantastic bike that never let me down.

In '77 I decided to sell my car and get a street bike for daily transportation. I found a Honda CB400F with 1500 miles for just over $1000, it was yellow. I put 92,000 miles on that little jewel; it was a fantastic machine and are very collectable today. I still choose a bike over the car any time I can.

Tell us about your first bike .............. and do you still ride?

When I was 15 it was a Yamaha DT100. Great strong bike forgiving of rookies. Followed by a Suzuki GS750. (My 1st accident with a car) then a Yamaha 750 triple with a shaft drive. Kawasaki 750 triple 2 stroke, very fast and I used to take it to San Antonio drag strip in the late 70's. Back then it took a modified bike to consistently break 100MPH in the quarter. 30 years hiatus away from riding then it was a Harley FLSTF (Fatboy) I rode that thing 57K in 2 years. Now a FLSTC which is on the dyno getting some mods.

Loud pipes do save lives.

bljones has a spectacular aura about bljones has a spectacular aura about
First bike- Rupp minibike.
First real bike- 1968 Honda CL 175.
Favourite ride- BMW R100S
Weirdest ride- Yamaha Seca 650 Turbo- styled by the same folks who brought you 7 Zark 7
Current ride - 1971 Kawasaki H1.
I'd consider trading it for a Ural or Dnepr sidehack rig, my next and last ride.

That is impressive. I almost got a BMW, I still may. I just need to somehow justify having more then one...should not be that difficult.

Sweet!

Should give credit to my present ride. It's as if the designer knew me ....... this bike fits me perfectly, from the comfortable sitting position to the top shelf performance. I may buy other bikes but I'm never selling this one! It's an '03 Aprilia Tuono R, only 200 were made for sale and only 50 were shipped to the US. So far we've gone 45,000 trouble free miles together, I plan to ride this bike to Alaska in 2012.

My problem is I like the bikes and can't part with them. The US one is in storage until I return, the Australian one is in storage until I can get another work visa and return there and the Street Bob I have here and use to commute.
A German friend who has owned and driven lots of bikes recently drove my Street Bob and said "It's a piece of sh*t but fun to drive!" then asked if he could ride it some more
