weapons aboard?

so there is obviously a very serious threat of piracy in more places than just the horn of africa. i am wondering if folks are carrying any means of defending theirselves from such unsavory types? how do people carry weapons aboard? are there problems entering ports? how is this done? i just can't see responsible people leaving their fate up to chance.

There is a very good, objective article about cruising armed in the month's issue of Lats and Atts. The consensus of the article, and the consensus of many here is, a gun on board is more trouble than it's worth outside of US territorial waters.

To the OP, please do a search on this topic. It has been beat to death. Most do not want it brought back to life; it is a zombie topic.

Yup, lots of discussion. Second the search. Personally, I wouldn't take a gun outside of the US.

Nonsense! It's only you guys in the non-firearm-totin' girly countries where you're not allowed to have guns that don't like to talk about it.

Just pullin' yer chain, Jack

More seriously, mikieg: We did just discuss this, extensively, again, recently: Do you carry firearms while cruising?

Enjoy

Jim

Just one point...

The OP didn't say guns per se. I think we could start a new thread... cannons,
rockets, flame throwers, maybe even catapults. Let's move it up a notch.
