I've never been a big drinker but I've always enjoyed a cold beer after mowing the lawn or playing sports. But no more. we even tried a test two months ago, ( differently not the smartest thing to do ) I poured a half glass of bud lite and passed out after 2 mouthfuls, woke up 7 hours later throwing up for 5 hours, could hardly breathe my throat was swollen, my eyes felt like they were burning, my head ached for days, cold chills and my whole body ached for days.

not worth it. I've considered trying the non alcoholic beer but I see that's even made with hops. but at least I can still have a drink of the hard stuff once in a while, doc says I can drink all the wine I want.... But Why would I
That's hard

However I have as much pleasure in drinking a good cold white wine I as I enjoy drinking a beer. The variety of white wines is truly amazing and you will find some that are very refreshing and have not too much alcohol in them like the Riesling, or Verde wine.

Riesling - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vinho Verde - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you cannot have beer don't be sour about it and try instead to discover the pleasures of white wine. It would be a lot worse if you were alergic to alcool

From the Verdes that I know very well try to find the ones that are made with these two tipe of grapes:

Alvarinho (or Albariño)

Loureiro

Albariño - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Loureiro Wine Grape Variety Information

Super Portuguese white: Ameal Loureiro « jamie goode's wine blog

You can also try the Verdes in red wine. On the country from where they come people prefers them (and I like them a lot) but they have a strong flavor and you have to learn to like them.

You can also try the Italian Lambrusco (red), but its hard to find the good stuff and not the amabile (sweet) variety they send for export (I guess they drink all the good stuff in Italy ).

I'll second PCP on the Riesling. I'm not big on wine, that stuff is good.
When in comes to beer:

There is no other beer but Molson Canadian as far as I'm concerned.

You are so right. There are so many other much better Canadian beers, especially local beers.

I am so sorry about the beer situation for you.

Sauvignon Blanc is great with fish.

Gewürztraminer works well with both Indian food and Chinese food.

Pinot Giorgio is great with lighter Italian.

I lean toward red - Malbec is big on my list right now; great bargain.

If I'm drinking domestic, it would have to be Moosehead, as Olands is owned by Labbats which is foreign owned (Brazil), as for imports I prefer 8.6 Bavaria from the Netherlands. Both have enough taste and strength at "bilge cold" to suit my fancy. In my experience, American suds don't qualify as beer, most that I've met can't handle our run of the mill 5%, south of the border has trouble making it above 3.5%.

Cheers, Dumah,
Halifax, NS
