Not surprisingly perhaps SailNet's own muddle headed wombat had some affection for her. Bit of a looker in her younger days as well..

err, umm, actually she was a Kiwi but lived most of her life in Sydney.

Sad event, tdw, though thanks for bringing it to my attention (my other half actually loves The Muddle Headed Wombat... and I do mean the book).

I thought it was accepted that if you were famous and from New Zealand, you become an honorary Australian so we can bask in the shared glory?

Of course.

Well at least until Oprah visits.....

The death of a literary lion always sucks. There are so few, and so few pay any attention in this age of iPods, iPads, and iDontgiveacraps. Society is rapidly dumbing down and is rapidly becoming too dumb to notice.

@chall03
No, I think we disowned Crowe prior to that... when he tried getting rid of the South Sydney Rabbito cheerleaders at the behest of his missus. I know that I couldn't accept an Aussie man trying such a thing.... and I personally hate NRL.

Did you ever see the South Sydney Scrubbers ? Jaysus. Still, Souths probably deserved them. Cheating bastards that they are.

Me I hate what the NRL has become but I saw my first game of footy at Leichardt Oval in 1964 and the Tigers are still part of my being. Cannot help it.

Crowe's a wanker. NZ has exported some goodun's (John Clark, Split Enz, Benji Marshall , Sam Neal.) but Crowe is not one of them.

No, but then again, I never bothered seeing South Sydney play

I cannot imagine watching the cheerleaders would be any worse than watching the Rabbitohs play... but then again, if people can think Sarah Jessica Parker is up there, anything is possible!

Cannot argue with you on that. In fact, that's a pretty good selection of "honorary Aussies" there Off the top of my head, I'd only be adding Neil Finn (of Crowded House)

Quit slagging RC- anybody who gets Great Big Sea some much needed exposure is okay in my book.
Phooque, if throwing telephones is a hanging offense, then i should have been strung up at least a half dozen handsets ago.

Actually, I thought RC and the "Curious Incident of the Thrown Phone" was bloody hilarious.

But getting rid of cheerleaders (even "scrubbers") in return for percussionists (of all things) when the only other thing to watch on the field is South Sydney fail at football is positively evil!
