You can surf a tanker wake 5 - 10 miles. My buddies and I have been doing it since we were kids. Hit me up if you are ever in Houston and I will take you. You can usually get two or three good rides in each day.
Another long ride is surfing the 'pororoca' tidal waves in the Amazon. These guys go kilometers and kilometers on the incoming tidal bore. Pretty amazing place to surf!
