Weird weather in the Land of Oz.

Queensland get pasted by floods and cyclones far worse than usual.

Victoria is awash as well. Not getting the kind of coverage that Qld received but the flooding has been pretty damn serious and again, not a normal year.

Victorian floods | Hundreds evacuate in West Gippsland

Perth (WA)

Bushfire Perth Brigadoon, Baskerville, Herne Hill, Roleystone

Sydney meantime gets a heatwave that indeed surpassed previous efforts.

Sydney's seven-day heatwave smashed records

It's a La Nina year which makes for these kind of events. Depite the fact that I am of the belief that climate change is happening I am not necessarily associating the weather events we have been experiencing with climate change. It has however been one weird year or so down under with more to come by the looks of things.

We're getting unusual temperature swings here, running from sub freezing for a few days, bouncing back to double digits for a day or two, and cool again. The East area of North America has been pasted with snowstorms and blizzards beyond what is normal, and in the southern states they're getting cold snaps as well. Europe has had a wicked fall/early winter too.

It's everywhere....

Weird weather indeed! If you watch CNN at all (as I assume most Americans would) it seems that Queensland has been blown to Tasmania!!!

CNN coverage of Cyclone Yasi places Queensland in Tasmania

Oh, the horror of it all!!!

Maybe you had an earthquake down under too, but the storms made you miss it!

I saw some pics of a friends house in Chicago, he has more snow in his front yard, than there is locally in the cascades where I ski at. weird weather all over!
