Talking There's definitely something wrong with you people . . .

Canada's Ice Hotel warms hearts

Quote:
"The place is an architectural feat," said a review from New Yorker "jblifeguard" on travel website tripadvisor. "Sleeping basically in an oversized igloo in freezing cold temperatures is a crazy experience. Do it. You won't have to do it again."

Why do I need an igloo? My boat is in water ten minutes away, I can sleep under ice there.

See if the facility the OP references will share their mailing list with you. She may as well earn part of her keep while she's in frozen hibernation . . . (Sounds like the safest and cheapest way to charter out. I'm calling Hinckley Financing first thing tomorrow to see if they'll adjust deposit minimums and/or interest rates if I pledge to use a 52' this way.)

Nonsense, the Lebelle Province has done a great job of turning milking the federal government/Canadian tax payer's into a self-sufficient endeavor.

John

p.s Did I just say that out loud? A treasonous act north of the border.

November, 2012

A Hinckley 52' was just commissioned to regularly gather and analyze water column samples from tropical waters from around the world. It is hoped that data gathered by Loophole will prove, once and for all that there are measurable changes occurring out there.

Loophole's permanent crew of two will be supplemented by 2-4 additional specialists, to be drawn from a large pool of people with a variety of skills and interests. Curiously, the only hard requirement is that visiting specialists not agitate for government that goes beyond the protection of Individual Rights. (A high-ranking official associated with the project who wishes to remain anonymous told this reporter that without that curious proviso, there'd be no way to guarantee the integrity of the data, something that's becoming more and more important to the EPA, as its entire raison d'etre is being questioned by President Elect Palin.)

The boat, sans testing equipment, will cost the EPA just $20M. Additional costs the EPA will have to cover include all running and docking costs, plus an annual maintenance schedule estimated to run between 10-15% of the vessel's value.

The permanent crew will pay for all consumables from their meager G14 compensation packages. The mission is expected to run for 25 years or until MMGW evaporates the world's oceans, whichever comes first. (The joint EU-UN ban on all fun isn't expected to take effect until 2050, while its ban on humanity itself isn't expected to be enacted until 2100.)

Loophole is expected to sail out of Southwest Harbor, ME late winter '13/early spring '14. "With any luck", her skipper said, "we should be able to make it to Rio in time to measure the impact the explicit sexuality Carnival is known for has on waters just offshore."
(Getting around the minimum words not in quotes here.)
