Go Canada and OZ

Following is a list of the top 10 most liveable cities as ranked by The Economist Intelligence Unit:

1. Vancouver, Canada

2. Melbourne, Australia

3. Vienna, Austria

4. Toronto, Canada

5. Calgary, Canada My town

6. Helsinki, Finland

7. Sydney, Australia

8. Perth, Australia

8. Adelaide, Australia

10. Auckland, New Zealand

I really think Victoria BC needs to be on this list.

I thought you were referring to the recent participants in the song chain.

I'll take #5.

Pittsburgh was the top U.S. city with 29th place -- just ahead of Honolulu -- while Los Angeles moved up three places to 44th and New York held onto the 56th spot.

As someone who lives in Melbourne.. most liveable?? Well, it certainly has to be better than Auckland (there last week)... but better than Sydney? Yep, I think so.

Melbourne would be even nicer if we had a public transport system that worked and enough water to drink.

A pity they didn't taking yachting into account - the results would have been widely different then!! (ie. Melbourne somewhere near the bottom of the list).

johnnyandjebus is on a distinguished road
TO was # 4? Did the people who put this list together actually visit the cities?

Toronto #4 seriously?

John

edit:
Take a 2 hour drive down the 401 till you hit Kingston.
Like Toronto but;
- 1/3'rd the housing cost
- 1/15'th the population
- The lake is actually windy for more than 2 days a month

Interesting that most of the cities on the list come from "socialist leaning" countries, with "free" health care....

The above statement should kick start this thread quite nicely

Heh, J&J, I noticed the same thing but didn't want to spoil the thread with claims of "left-wing conspiracy"

To be honest, I am not surprised Melbourne rates above Sydney. I mean, Sydney might be head and shoulders above the rest of the world but it's definitely not on par with Melbourne. Tis my favourite city here in Oz

Except Vancouver. And Toronto. Oh yeah, and Calgary.

Notice the trend?
