Bust Out Another Thousand = H.O.U.S.E ??!?!
Just brought my roofer in to diagnose the leak in my brand-new ($5 grand) roof ... and of course, the 30-year-old skylight is leaking (elected not to replace it when we did the rest of the roof).
Cost to put a new one in?
You guessed it ... bust out another thousand.
Am I surprised that a piece that's been sitting in 30 years of Toronto winters died? Not really.
But I'm gonna try hard not to complain about stuff on the boat - at least I can keep an eye on all of it, hopefully won't be surprised by a failure, and can do virtually all the work myself if I so choose. With this house, I can't even get on the roof to take a look myself (2.5 floors up!).
For anyone considering building/renovating on dirt: skylights are a Class A violation of the 1st rule of engineering, and Mother Nature always collects her fines sooner or later.
