Downhill Racing in Chile

It's not sailing, but it is still pretty cool to watch

Look out for the dog.
The pink handlebars are a nice touch.
Boy there are a lot of blind jumps.

That is freakin' INSANE! I love it!

Is the dog a legit part of the course? Did he get points deducted for missing it?

Great images.

Downwill on cities is a crazy stuff. I have tried it in the mountain and its crazy enough there

One of the most famous world tour downwill race is the Lisbon one.

Not so fast but much more technical. Take a look at those guys racing down on the old town:

Two times world champion crashing in Lisbon (2010):

YouTube - Lisboa Downtown 2010 Steve Peat

Final on the 2009 edition.

I don't know if you guys know about Top Gear, the craziest car TV program I know of. Among the many crazy stuff that they have done, they organized a race between a bicycle and a car. Lisbon old town was the chosen place:

Paulo

Top gear is a great show. My favorite was the RV races.

BTW:IF you want to see technical riding and don't mind if the bike has a motor, have a look at this:
YouTube - motorcycle trials
I got a chance to see these guys put on a demo at a motorcycle show several years ago. Their balance is incredible.

No problems with bikes with engines, I have races those for over 10 years

Spain and Britain are on the origin of Trial, but I hated when the "old" trial that was really ridding the motorcycle over difficult ground, but in a perspective of enjoying nature and having a nice but hard and difficult ride to somewhere turned in a circus show. Not that I don't appreciate the technique evolved but it looks pretty meaningless to me.

Even in what regards bicycles (downwill) I like more cross country than city stuff. Look at this guys having fun:

YouTube - [MTB]freeride downhill

Just the kind of track I liked to do on my bike, I mean, the one with an engine The difference was that it was just as fun downwill as upwill

Kind of like when I go wheeling or snowmobiling. While I can enjoy watching rock crawling, I would much rather drive through remote locations, placing that can not be seen any other way. Where I snowmobile in Wisconsin, it is mostly open fields, sure you can rip across a field a 90+ mph, fly through the air for a hundred feet (yes i did that once accidentally), I would much rather drive through winding trails through woods and terrain, rather than ripping up a field.

Yes, I know what you mean even if high speed on twisting country roads could be a lot of fun, specially if mud and a lot of water are part of the game.

My favorite race was the Portalegre Baja, an international race that counted for the Baja world trophy: South of Portugal, 500km non stop in winter. I have made that race some 10 times, virtually ever year. At that time the number of riders were about 300, 350, with about 200 cars. All the great European riders raced here and the game was trying to beat the best Portuguese. They managed 2 times in 24 races. It was and it is a great race where amateurs can ride side by side with some of the best world pilots. Take a look, I have made this one (1994).

Thanks, I really enjoyed that. Was thinking how I couldn't go near that fast on the dirt bike.
