Roger Abbot a Canadian Icon is gone.

Some of you may know of a program on CBC radio and later on TV called "The Royal Canadian Air Farce". George Abbot one of the founders died today after a 14 year battle with Cancer he was 68. Funny man who's best character in my mind was our Prime Minister Jean Chretien. A couple of videos just to remember him...






BTW Roger is the guy from Mensa and the Customs officer on the left.

There was an excellent tribute on CBC's Q: youtube QTV Roger Abbott and it comes up quickly (I can't link here yet). He was a fascinating man, and very successful.

I guess for fairly obvious reasons CAF doesn't make it down under. Pity. Looks like a whole barrel of laughs. Abott himself a very funny guy.

Sadly, I never got to see this guy while he was still around. Never even heard of the CAF before being referred to this thread... From the linked videos, I seem to have missed something worthwhile (us Commonwealth-ers love a good ribbing of the monarchy).

Will have to spend some quality time on YouTube.

Just a small correction. It's RCAF, not CAF: "Royal" Canadian Air Farce. Great stuff...

RC Air Farce has been going a long time, with for the most part the same troupe. It's always a good laugh, very topical and plays no favourites. One thing you'd likely never see anywhere else is actual sitting politician come on the show to face their impersonators (at least up until the Palin/Fey situation in the US)

Another classic is "This hour has 22 minutes" - perhaps even more irreverant.

RIP Roger Abbott... you had a good run.
