I saw this as well ..

Mysterious Porpoise Deaths Blamed On Berserk Dolphins - News Story - KTVU San Francisco

This was in 2009. there have been similar accounts reported from Scotland (menitoned in this vid) and Wales.

Male dolphins have been known to attack pods of dolphins presumably in an attempt to become the alpha males of that pod in much the same way that lions behave.

I'm surprised that BP oil spill hasn't been blamed.

We have no resident large dolphins here in the Dublin costal area but get the occasional visitor. Always hoped they would stop for the summer but not so sure now.
I love the shy little harbour porpoises that live round here and often see them feeding or swiming in the wave crests alongside. I like to think they are intrested in the boat and seem to come round more when the engine is running.

There was this story in San Diego recently involving the Navy:

There was an interesting report in the Sydney Morning Herald today about an NZ dolphin that was seen sheparding two whales away from danger when they were looking likely to beach themselves.

Seems that like humans dolphins are both good and bad.

They have down here... Although there's still much to be determined before blame is placed on the oil spill. For one, we had a very cold winter leaving waters much colder than ideal for dolphin births.
