Saturday plans are to finally take the boat out for her "shakedown". If you only knew half of the story of what I've been through to get this boat in my name and in the water and back in ship shape...

No, not the boat's fault at all and not a big resto, just mostly legal BS. It's a relatively new boat (2004) but some hardware had been lost and there was some neglect. I still have some things to do but they're on the "I want to do" list instead of the "Have to do" list. Well, except for the bottom paint it needs.
Anyway, I've got an experienced friend coming up to lay expert eyes on the boat and on me to help me knock the rust off so to speak. Been looking forward to this day for over a year now.
Today I needed to tune the rig. The shrouds don't even register on the loos gauge. Why? Hell if I know. I guess to make the forestay easier to pin (it can be a trailer queen). But my Dad, the previous owner, sailed her with such slack shrouds. What the?? How he didn't lose the mast, I don't know. The shrouds will move in the wind. The leeward shroud must have looked like a piece of rope just hanging when she was loaded up.
Yesterday I began coming down with a cold. I work in healthcare, I've gone a good while without one. I even thought the other day that I had gone nearly a year without a cold. That's unheard of considering where I work.
Today my ears are plugged up enough that I get a bit dizzy with movement. So going back and forth between turnbuckles, not a good idea. Since I have to nearly hang upside down to get to the turnbuckles (it's not a bluewater cruiser at all and has no side deck so that anyone down below can relax in all the luxurious comfort a 26' Hunter can provide).
All this to say that I had better be feeling better tomorrow or I'ma be all kinds of pissed.

[sneeze] Also might have a storm come through tomorrow.
