Jack, you're confusing them with facts again - let them have their dreams & misconceptions.

Besides, what's wrong with only 3,000,000 people holding 1/2 of all the wealth in the U.S.?

and why are we comparing current immigration stats to try and prove something about past immigration?

I care little on whether one thinks it's right or wrong. Each one of my neighbors is either better off or worse off than me. I'm pretty sure none of my neighbors feel entitled to take from the other neighbors to try and make it right. Are my neighbors and I wrong to not compare bank accounts and try and even things out by compelling some of our neighbors to give it up?

You keep mentioning this as if its meaning isn't reasonably clear given the context.

Medicare, SS and other programs were, and still often are, pushed as caches of cash set aside for people's retirement, with government's role being to assure these nest eggs are set up and protected. The current push, however, is to undo that veneer of reasonableness, turning these programs into yet more radical redistribution schemes that seek more or less equal outcomes irrespective of who has contributed what.

The placard you keep mocking certainly didn't phrase the point as well as it could be phrased, but you taking it out of context ins't much better.

And at some point you'll have to realize that pointing out such trivialities doesn't undo the central message these people are trying to communicate -- no matter how often you engage in this sophomoric, evasive nonsense.

More importantly, the bratty approach of focussing on such trivialities with that special tone only statists seem comfortable with, in no way advances your POVs, positions that have never been validated in the history of mankind.

I didn't post on Hitler, I referred to the known parallels between the former dictator and those who insist on controlling the economy centrally in the name of their never-proven superiority, with charts, numbers, citing their experience, etc, being par for the course.

I won't retract it, don't apologize for it.

Do what you must.

The rate chart you posted from the many available in your link are based on per 1000 population.

Now go look at total migration and the US leads by far in either total number or overall percentage.

I just realized that you not only had the audacity to edit a member's post instead of taking it down and asking him to redo it, but you edited it without inform him of that action. Thank you, (edit)

Don't bother with the vacation thing. I won't be back.

(If anyone would like to contact me, please send a PM or an email.)

Good luck Rags. I have to point out that most mature people would simply apologize and move on instead of leaving, but whatever.
I probably won't be contacting you, but in the interest of good will, If you ever find yourself in central west Florida and you want to go for a sail, let me know. We can share a beer and talk about stuff. Fair warning though. If you ever compare me with Hitler to my face, I'll probably pop you in the nose.

Demographers use rates per 1000 to be able to compare countries with disparate populations.

You are correct. The United States is no longer the country it once was.
