Must see movie.
I reckon I am as insensitive and ignorant as, if not anyone, then despite my vanities, most. An invitation to a festival movie about an eighty-four year old who wanted to start primary school in Kenya was accepted only with reluctance. My knowledge of Kenya was limited to vague memories of the British fighting savage terrorists and that they had outstanding distance runners. If that sounds appalling, it is, but it reflects a world view, an upbringing, and the propaganda many of us have been exposed to without realizing it.
The movie “The First Grader” is outstanding. A delight in many ways, but powerful and moving in its simplicity. I have offered a money back guarantee for friends and family to see it. I can’t offer that to the world at large. I can say get your butt there if it comes to your area
