And yet people still remain convinced that we are alone in the Universe.

Look up the pictures from the Hubble Deep Field series - they will stun you into speechless incomprehension when you realize they are all Galaxies, not Stars and what a TINY part of the sky they cover.

It is surely one the great mysteries. Why, having gone to all that trouble to create a universe purely for our benefit did his noodleship plonk us way out here in the boondocks and to boot give us only one lousy moon ? Sometimes I fear we are being taken for a bunch of suckers.

Actually, our entire Galaxy is merely like a single grain of sand in all the beaches on Earth - the Sahara doesn't even come close.
