Do you really think the Chinese can make a better sub than you?
Take a look at the BEST things they make and then consider that your subs are probably the most sophisticated product ever of American know how.
It's all moot anyway, as long as the Tridents are lurking somewhere deep you don't need anything more. China's provocations are like a dog yapping at a passing bigger dog from behind a fence.
An old joke from the days of Mao was that China didn't need aircraft or missiles for the bomb - they'd just pass it hand over hand.
