Hard to believe that there is anybody stupid enough or ignorant enough to try to take on the U.S. military.

The shots of the F117 dumping a full load makes you wonder how it can hold that many bombs. I remember seeing footage of a B52 dropping a full load of 500 Lb bombs during Rolling Thunder - I swear the first bombs were hitting before the last ones left the plane - from 30K feet! It looked like there was a factory producing them onboard the plane. They said the bomb path was 20 miles long.

I'm proud we carry a big stick. The Chinese sent a message off Catalina Island last year. They aren't up to our level militarily but they but they are gaining (With our money of course). We are scaling back at an alarming rate. Seems we don’t have the money.

I wouldn't worry - you spend something like the next 12 or 14 largest powers COMBINED and most of them are your allies. Those old tyrants in China will die off and be replaced by a Gorbachev type before China can become a problem IMHO. The natives are getting restless for some western style wealth and comfort and their leaders will be forced to deal with it. Over one BILLION pi$$ed off people can't be controlled by their government forever.

The so called "Aircraft" contrail that came out of the ocean 13 miles north of Catalina last year. ICBM most likely from a Song or Yuan Class Chinese sub. The Chinese have passed us in number of subs and the quality is about to very soon. Our current Administration cut the U.S. submarine program last year. No new subs for us after the ones currently under construction and no new sub technology development. We're done with the sub business just like we're done with American's in Space. I'm sure the folks up in Bremerton are getting a tad concerned. I am . . .

I did give it the whole 18 minutes before my comment and found it very interesting. No hi-jacking of a thread here. You said "I would rather see my tax dollars going toward this than the wars" and I appreciate your opinion. I merely stated mine which was a direct answer to the thread topic. Nobody (Hopefully) prefers war but I prefer spending my money on defense before mushrooms.

Do you really think the Chinese can make a better sub than you?

Take a look at the BEST things they make and then consider that your subs are probably the most sophisticated product ever of American know how.

It's all moot anyway, as long as the Tridents are lurking somewhere deep you don't need anything more. China's provocations are like a dog yapping at a passing bigger dog from behind a fence.

An old joke from the days of Mao was that China didn't need aircraft or missiles for the bomb - they'd just pass it hand over hand.
