Smack and other Texas sailors...

All ok? I'm worried about our Texas sailors. Just check in and let us know your status re: the fires.

We had a fire yesterday about 3 miles from our home but it was contained. Bastrop, Grimes and Montgomery county are having very serious uncontained fires.

Hey mims, we're doing fine. Some good friends of ours lost their home near Bastrop, however. There may be more that we haven't heard about yet. We've got a lot of friends out there and at the Steiner subdivision.

The winds have died down - so hopefully they can get a handle on it over the next couple of days.

Glad to hear you guys are safe as well as our Great State burns!

Thanks for the thought - ya big chicken baby.

Glad you're okay.

I've got a few friends down there. One could see a fire from his driveway. He hasn't showed up at my house yet. The smoke is pretty bad I hear.

So very sorry to hear your friends have lost their home. Glad your family is ok. I'm hoping the lack of winds today helps in getting these things out.

We had haze and the smell of smoke at our house yesterday from the fire 3 miles away. We've got important documents and photos boxed up ready to go, just in case.

I have a large amount of friends and family in Plantersville, Magnolia,Waller, Cedar Park, Bastrop and Smithville. Around 14 different families in different locations either undergoing evacuation or just returning after the all clear.

Stay safe everyone. Oh yeah and pray to the deity of your choice for rain.

Was out on Lake Travis yesterday trying to enjoy the cooler weather the north winds were bringing.... hard to truly enjoy it though when you look around and see plumes of smoke. We can only pray for the best. Hopefully picture comes through since I don't really post ever.

Hey dot, I guess that's the Steiner fire? We were out on Saturday but were trapped in our slip. I guess we need some rain, eh?

That is the Spicewood fires, I think... looking west from volente. They had the Lake closed off from Starnes Island all the way to Mansfield for the helicopters picking up water from the lake to dump on the Steiner fires. We could see those also from the proper angle. All in all, seeing smoke from fire in several directions was pretty scary. Was out Saturday too, that was a great day sailing. Need rain more than ever, for sure.

Wow guy's! I've never seen Travis that low. You must be under some tough water restrictions right now. I have a friend nobody's heard from up on PK with a house right in the burn zone. My boat is out of the water right now in the middle of a pasture full of longhorn cattle. It scares me because the grass there is as dry and crackly as rice paper. One spark and both sailboat and ski boat are history. They're insured but I love them both. The longhorns, on the other hand will go right through the fence if they have to. They have before.
