I propose this thread as a place where whiney/critical/self-righteous posters can come and throw down really long diatribes about their discomfort, disdain, disagreement, criticism, and general tsk-tsk-edness at stuff being said in other threads.

It's a safe place for those folks who just HAVE to say something that will inevitably kill the buzz of the relevant thread...yet have no desire to fight about their opinion like they'd have to in FC. Then everyone else on SN can come in at will and see what the hens are clucking about - or not. That's the beauty of it. Total win-win.

As a matter of fact, the AFOC thread used to serve this purpose. But we might as well re-create the wheel of lame.

Knock yourselves out buzzkillers!

You should probably rename it the "Pi$$ing Contest" thread. As there seems to be a few who no matter what they will disagree. If one says the sky is blue, the other would challenge as to what shade...and then contend it wasn't clarified. When ever this starts the moderators could move said post here for the banter to continue.

It does get to be somewhat ridiculous at times. Especially when half the post are between three individuals arguing over perceived meaning of someones opinion they are attempting to validate as fact.

I don't think the mods need to worry about this kind of stuff. If it's whiney and annoying - we can just say "Dude, take it to The Hen House."

Ya know what I've noticed? The threads that usually yeild candidates for a thread like this often have the potential to be entertaining and informative. What I see is that someone responds to something in a way that raises the hackles of someone else and then that person responds with something defensive or snide and then all hell breaks loose and the next thing you know you've got a derailed thread and a couple of people that don't like each other. (Which is really funny considering that they've never met).
So now there's just about zero chance that these two will ever be able to even have a civil conversation much less be able to learn anything from each other.
That's why labels suck. That's why isms suck. Assuming that you know someone well enough to assign a label doesn't really seem to help keep a conversation on track. Not in real life and certainly not here.
We just don't seem to be grown up enough to disagree with each other while carrying on constructive and genial conversations. Look at the American economy thread for example. A bunch of smart guys with interesting takes on the subject and they spend inordinate amounts of time making digs and insulting each other. I don't get it. It really detracts from the thread as well as their/our credibility.

We need to stop being so defensive. We need to start being a little more sensitive to others feelings. We need to know when to just walk away and stfu.
We need to grow up.

I include myself too. Except for the smart part.
