Texans and Australians: Same Breed

I spent 2 years in the Solomon Islands. And one thing I learned is this:

Texans and Australians are exactly the same. Crass. Fun-loving. Hard-drinking. BBQ-loving. Easy-laughing. Hard-charging. Hard-sailing.

Completely opposite of the Latvians.

I sense a cheap shot-across-the-bows right there but ain't clever enough to know exactly where it came from..

Surely being compared to a Texan can't possibly be a good thing. They don't even drink real beer!

I'm not sure about that Smack... Some of those Aussies sure seem like left wing sissies.

Don't think they would last long here.

Actually, it isn't a cheap shot, it's really pretty accurate. It's not good or bad, it just is what it is.

I've never understood the Ozzies and their beer thing - it tastes like invalid Kangaroo pi$$ and yet you're proud of it. I could see being proud of being man enough to drink it but otherwise? Your wine on the other hand isn't bad at all. I remember as a kid doing a lot of chundering from drinking Porphyry Pearl. The good stuff is VERY good though and has been for a long time.

Porphery Pearl ? Oh deary deary me ....

To be honest about it ... other than a couple of the smaller breweries (I am partial to Coopers) I don't particularly like Oz beer. Reschs is not bad drop, XXXX used to do the trick until the thieving ***** Bond took it over and its never recovered, Fosters is utter muck, Tooheys not much better and VB is almost drinkable if you are really thirsty.

Give me Becks, Peroni, Heinekin any day unless you'll fly me to Eastern Europe and I'll die a happy man supping on fine Pils.

Translation - Texans in the Solomon Islands are like Australians in the Solomon Islands.

A very narrow sellection of people to make any assumptions.

As for beer, not all Australians get pissed for entertainment or walk to the shops with a beer in their hand, those traditions are mostly for Queenslanders.

I'm a lot more curious about what a LATVIAN was doing there.
