Italy: Politicians on the unemployment

eh! eh! The Italians had given expression to what the Europeans feel about Politicians of any party and in times of crisis, the Italian new government has not a single politician

All technicians, mostly economists, are going to try to do what has to be done to save Italy from bankruptcy (the interest rates for the money the government need to cover its deficit are almost at 7%).

It is perhaps that the politicians are all in hiding knowing they have nothing to gain while the technocrats do not have the political nous to stay away from the train wreck ?

I don't know of any politician that would not try to grab the power in any circunstance

No, Mario Monti, in Italy they call it Super Mario was directly nominated by the Republic President to form a Government after Berlusconi was forced to resign after losing majority in the parliament and with him the government. The President Giorgio Napolitano heard the several political parties before choosing a non politician, a man that does not belong to any party, a very good economist that had worked on the last years as a leading European Commission member (1995 and 2004).

Then Monti to the surprise of the political parties formed a true independent and technical government without any politicians from any of the many Italian parties. Due to the Italian situation professional politicians had to accept because otherwise I guess they would be lynched by the Italian people that is really pissed off with all politicians that are responsible to bring Italia to the verge of the abyss.

New elections are only in 2013, so he will stay in power till then providing the parliament gives him support.

Italy is going to face hardships and austerity measures need to be applied. Unfortunately I know well what is going to be likeI hope they can make the people understand the necessity of those measures and I am a bit affraid with that cause the Italians have a kind of an anarchist character, very funny and agreeable when things go right but that can turn sour if things go wrong

Ever since my sister moved to Italy and married an Italian I have been of the opinion that country is essentially ungovernable, for the simple reason it is almost entirely populated by Italians.

I just hope they don't end up with some sort of Mussolini character - that's what happened the last time things got this bad.

I guess that is a risk. They had already for a lot of years another character, with its sex parties and Sexy chicks nominations for public offices

Once I asked to a an Italian friend how the hell he could have won the last elections. He said tome: You don't no what was politics and politicians in Italy before Berlusconi. At least this one is a bit mad but rich and don't need to rob to get healthy



At least the guy had good taste. I think many male Italians would even like and envy its sexual prowess. He would have not gone far if he liked guys instead
