I thought a lot of sailors we're writers, and it seemed (still does) like a fun idea... Holy dud though

In all my forum posting history, I don't think I've ever created a thread with zero replies/interest like this one.. ouch..

Google cached part of the post.

The idea is simple, the next poster adds his work to the prior posters work, taking it where they want to take it, and so on. Might wind up with a.
Then most sentences do end with a .

Twas a cold and gloomy night, there was no moon and the seas were high and confused as he took a swig of the last bit of his rum and decided to climb the mast steps to the first spreaders for some fresh air...

OK. Let's take a stab at fiction then.

It was a hellish night on the Hudson River as Frank took the tiller and made the many tacks against the ebbing tide that took them up past the highlands on the west in New Jersey. The wind was from the north mostly but it caromed off the walls of the rock cliffs sending Cat's paws in many directions but the way they needed to go. So they tacked into the down river or southerly current knowing that at least they had a bottle or two of some kind of rum on board for when they dropped anchor or took a mooring somewhere north of the Tappan Zee Bridge and their home port. There were also a few plastic bottles of soda like ginger ale and tonic, which when mixed with the rum and some ice would produce some taste explosions on their tongues.
As the light increased in the east they heard some splashing noises. Finally they saw a large fish break water and flop down on the surface. A large and ancient looking fish that did not have scales exactly but plates of armor. That fish was a Sturgeon nearly 6' to 8' long.
Twenty years later I'm older but still sailing in the shadow of the Tappan Zee bridges and I hear the same 'thwap' as the big fish hit the river. Since my hearing has declined I slowly notice that there is a helo hovering overhead as we hear the are the ancient fish are using for a breaching point. They are used to plucking jumpers off the bridge who just cant face their lives anymore but they are on to me now. A voice booms down from above: "Please vacate the area as we are conducting a Sturgeon census."
We tack away from the area they lighted up from the helo but watched as they headed up river. What seemed to be were a few shots were fired but all we saw was the helo straining what seemed to be a body they were loading on board their air craft.
