Up here in the Great White North, we actually have a political party that calls itself "Liberal".
Or, as most refer to it now, " Liebrals" (has to do with a big money scam it was involved with).
Wonder if that translates down south?

Dumb, offensive commercial??
Maybe.
Dumb, offensive headline??
Definately!!
Hoekstra Super Bowl ad a slippery slope toward Asian-bashing?
Hoekstra Super Bowl ad a slippery slope toward Asian-bashing? - CSMonitor.com
Worst editing of 2011??
The 30-second ad opens with the sound of a gong and shows the Asian woman riding a bike on a narrow path lined by rice paddies.
Stopping her bike, the woman smiles into the camera and says, "Thank you, Michigan Senator Debbie Spenditnow. Debbie spends so much American money. You borrow more and more from us. Your economy get very weak. Ours get very good. We take your jobs. Thank you, Debbie Spenditnow."
The scene shifts to Hoekstra, who says, "I think this race is between Debbie Spenditnow and Pete Spenditnot."
"Mr. Hoekstra may believe that his ad is just a way to express his political goals. But it does so in a manner that points the finger at Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders for our nation's problems," said Thomas Costello, president and CEO of the Michigan Roundtable for Diversity and Inclusion, a 70-year-old civil rights organization in Detroit. "All of us need to be vigilant in the words we use and images we portray to avoid giving tacit permission for racist behavior."

Had a whole list of points lined up, but I think a summary will suffice (you are not as deliberately stubborn as others ). France was occupied by a national force with which the US & GB were already at war. The "aggressor" term had already been applied to Germany and the occupation wouldn't in any reasonable interpretation equate to France having accepted the new leadership as legitimate.
Iraq was under the same leadership it had since 1979. Led by the same guy that had been significant military support by the USA in the past. Iraq was not at war with the US, was not attacking the US at the time, and was deemed by the world at large as trying to avoid going to war with the US.

Certainly does down here in the Great Southern Land.
We too have a Liberal party frequently referred to as Lieberals. Could have something to do with the fact it's current leader admitted, on television, that you can't believe what he says when asked a question unless the answer is carefully scripted... then had to be written down... then proved even writing & signing an agreement meant nothing if things didn't turn out the way he wanted.

Actually BL, D-Day has always been called an invasion. That it was also a liberation is beside the point.

That situation was covered by Ron Ziegler's famous line "That statement is no longer operative" when Nixon got caught in a lie.
