No doubt, and people have been banned from Sailing Anarchy. It is not a completely unregulated free-for-all. The problem is when moderators let their egos interfere with the running of an otherwise enjoyable forum. Cruisers Forum is the prime example of this, but I've seen examples of it here, too.

Good to know
To clear up the confusion icon, I didn't say you thought SailNet was nasty. I just pointed out your chances of survival over in SA in the hypothetical case you thought someone (i.e. a poster in particular, banned or otherwise) here had been nasty here.
And I used you as an example, for no other reason than the fact no-one else is talking about field-trips to SA.

True, but it takes far more effort to be banned in SA than here. For example, there is (at the moment) only a general warning for when people decided to start publicly accusing one another of paedophilia. SA is about as close to a sailing forum can get to "anarchy" whilst not being taken down due to legal action
As for the mods here, I haven't seen any cases of favouritism or ego-influenced decisions. Then again, I don't go out of my way to piss off any of them either I agree completely in regards to CF though... shame cos there is good information there.

I never posted to that thread.

I'm not surprised - if he's too much of a pu$$y to stand up to BLJ or TD.......

In following the link to SA I noticed a post from Bob Perry wherein he refers to nearly being banned here. What was up with that?????????? I never saw anything from him that was sketchy.
As far as I have seen SA is mostly a bunch of kids overdosed on testosterone. I came close to losing my job a couple of times over the years for cursing too much but they make me look like a churchgoing little old lady. It makes for good stress relief in real time but in print it's usually just tiresome.

The trick is to not do it too often. Seems like the mods around here do a pretty good job IMHO.

+ + + + on that - they do a great job.

I think what turns me off about SA the most is the coolness factor - it's not dork friendly at all. I am patently uncool and out of style, 'specially in the shiny racing sailing world. I talk too loud, I say stupid stuff.. I often spazz out, basically. I certainly have no idea about anything racing. Nothing, nada... totally uninterested. My foulies came from outdoor world for gods sakes, and they are bright yellow..
I am pretty much just a gargoyle on an old Alberg, and those folks are all tall and blonde and racing carbon fiber sleds with hot girls with their tits hanging out, pointing and laughing as they fly by (in my mind at least)...
CF by the way, also sucks imo - just cause it's sooo dull.
God, come to think of it - you people really are stuck with me here
