Colvic Countess 33 good for OFFSHORE ?

Hello there,

I am new to forum... here is my first try.

I am looking at a Colvic Countess 33 and I wonder if this boat is safe for offshore passage (read solid construction, confortable at sea, track and goes to weather on a lee shore) ?

The is not much information out there on the web about this boat (reviews, original brochures... etc).

Any words would be appréciated

I looked at a possible purchase of a Colvic 33' about 15 years ago in New Smyrna, Florida. My research and observations of the boat then were very favorable. We were looking at downsizing from our 41' ketch, but decided to keep our boat. My only objection to the vessel was poor ventilation for living in lower latitudes. 'take care and joy, Aythya crew

If it´s any help have had a Colvic Countess 33 for 15 years now. Tough boat, regularly sailed in F8 and worse was F11. Not fast to windward, but dependable progress. Now in Med and needs more opening ports - will fix next season.

Thanks for your reply... we decided to buy a Southern Cross 35... a much bigger boat. The interior of the Colvic was not finish and it look like a big project to undertake. The SC35 was in good conditions and after working on the boat for the past 3 mounth... we moved aboard and we will be leaving for the south in 2 weeks.
