if you look at the previous photos the winch is just laying in the passage from the cockpit to the interior of the boat. No there is no hatch access where the cockpit meets the passage to the interior. still don,t know where the winch goes. the boat I believe is a 1973 NA

mouser370 - I searched several pages back and did not notice a picture of your cockpit. What page is it on? Also, I was thinking about the top of your cabin and had to come back for a look. Are you sure your boat is a Spirit? The cabin on a Spirit is sleek and comes sloping down in the front but from your picture yours does not seem to be doing that. Also your cabin layout I have not seen before, not that that makes it a different boat but it could be a clue. Possibly it is just the camera angle throwing my eyeballs off

Has anyone put a furler on a Spirit 23? I am redoing my rigging and getting new sails so I figured now is a good time to look into a furler. What sizes and brands have you used?

'Has anyone put a furler on a Spirit 23''
I'm interested in this also, slowly working on having the boat ready for the end of the hurricane season, all small hull blisters now ground out and filled with thickened epoxy, cabin slide top wood milled ready to fit,
next project inspect shoal keel and see if its operating correctly.

I have looked at the sailboatdata and it does have general in formation. I does not have specifics. I have got the owners manual website download and this also does not have specifics. does any one have pics of the interior or data on the interior of the boat.

mouser370, there are tons of pictures on the net of the Spirit, and I have told you, the winch is in the port locker in the cockpit. You need to convince us your boat is a Spirit, because it does not look like a Spirit to me.

Here, let me do some googling for you:
Pictures: north american spirit 23 - Google Search
Descriptions and photos from all angles on Sailing Texas: American 23 Sailboat Photo Gallery

Now go take a look at those and prove to yourself that your boat is not a Spirit
