1967 William Healey 34'

Has anyone heard of this boat?

First poster, I've been reading like crazy, especially the sticky in regards to tips on purchasing a boat. I'm currently a student in Key West, FL studying Marine Engineering, so I have a good understanding of the electrical and mechanical engineering aspect of boats, but not so much on the structure itself.

I found this beaut for sale on the internet, and was making arrangements to go see it in the next few days, and was just curious if anyone out there had ever heard of the maker?

AD states it is a: 1967 William Healey 34' Shoal Draft Presto Sharpie. With a 12' Beam, 2'6" Draft and a 4 Cylinder Diesel.

Also mentions it's construction is strip plank wood, fiberglass and epoxy. And that the aluminum mast needs to be stepped. It's a deck mounted mast.

Any thoughts in regards to this boat is helpful. thanks in advance.

Re: 1967 William Healey 34'

Hi. I think I know the Bill Healey that you are seeking. He was my step-father. He was a wooden boat builder out of Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He designed and built wooden boats by hand. All of his boats were constructed upside down and then "flipped" over once the hull was completed. I am lucky enough to have grown up on a 34' ketch that he built in the late 70's. I am currently in the process of tracking down his boats and would love to eventually write a book or do a documentary on him and his boats. He has since passed away, but leaves an amazing legacy.
