Anchorage between Hilton Head and St Catharines (outside)?

I've been looking for an anchorage to make two outside (non-ICW) legs out of the passage from Hilton Head Island to St. Catharine's Island. We draw 6 feet.

On the charts, it looks as though on might make an overnight anchorage in the South Channel of Cockspur Island, about S. of Fort Pulaski. Also, if one can get over the bar (which the charts say has 9' MLW), there's the Romerly Marsh anchorage off Wilmington Inlet/Wassaw Sound.

But there's often much that's not apparent from charts. Anyone got experience with either of these areas? Thanks.
