Price?

I have an opportunity to buy a 2005 2.5 hp, 4 stroke YAMAHA. The motor has been very lightly used - not at all for the last 2 summers. What would be a fair price for this motor?

Re: Price?

New that is a $900+ motor.

It's now 10 years old. 2/3 of that price might be fair, $500-$600.

Re: Price?

I wouldn't pay $500 for one of those if it was 10 years old. Might be willing to pay $250.

Last year when I decided to replace my old 2.5HP I got a new 6HP motor for $1300 and gave away the old motor. That's how much I felt it was worth.

Re: Price?

I paid $250 for a 25 year old 2.5hp 2 stroke... that's about rock bottom, check craigslist. Small outboards with integrated fuel tanks, especially 4 strokes demand a high dollar.

Re: Price?

In the Carib that would go for 250 to 400 $ US.

2 strokes are preferred over 4 strokes.
