Honda BF 100 9.9hp 4 stroke motor.
I found water in the gear oil last fall. I put fresh oil in and let it sit in my shop for the winter. During the winter it leaked ALL the gear oil out. It's an old motor, time for new seals.
I ran out of time this spring so I opted to have honda change the seals for me. 550$ later they changed "all" the seals in the bottom end for me to fix it.
I launched the boat, motored all of 100ft to my slip. I come back and see rainbows in the water by my boat. The motor is hung up out of the water and I reach under the bottom end and get oil on my finger. It looks dirty, definitely not fresh gear lube. It even smells a bit like gas. Its coming from a very tiny port jut above the prop. What is this? Is oil normal here? Should I go back to honda and ask them what exactly they did with my 550$?? Other than gear lube the only thing I could think is that this tiny port is linked to my exhaust and has some rundown of engine oil in it from being transported 200 miles in my truck bed.
On my mobile so attaching pics is tough. Here's a shot:
