Question New Wire

Any ideas for running new wires thru top of cabin into the mast cradle of a 1972 P-30 ? Mast is down. Can't seem to find an access point from inside without cutting a hole in the ceiling under the mast.

Re: New Wire

I'd like to know as well. The wires coming up out of the mast step are a bit ratty, and I'd like to at least reterminate them.

Are the wires secured? Can you pull new wires through?

Thanks, Jim

Re: New Wire

If you are replacing wire... you tie a string to the old wire before pulling it out. (assuming it will pull out)

If its too late for that... then you can attempt a cotton ball tied to thread and using a vacuum cleaner to try to draw the string through.

But sometimes you just have to cut a hole. Wires run during manufacture often go in, then they sandwich parts together and might even glue the wires in place with spray-in insulation or the adhesives holding the boat together.
