Where and how much to sell my boat?

I think I'm about done here. I think I'm going to sell my boat like I said I woild at the beginning. However I am open to alternatives storage options. Since I don't live in Washigton.

I love the boat. But it's better off with someone instead of just sitting waiting for me for next may. I would worry about it too much. Still. I'm open to ideas.

Otherwise. Where should I take it to sell in Washigton so it sells the quickest? It is a ranger 23. Probably the nicest small boat you see. Well...9 out of 10 small boats. This is the nicest. Doesn't need anything. Ready to sail.

I accomplished what I set out to do and had more fun and stretched it out over a month longer than I planned. I'm going to miss it up here actually. But it's best to go while its still sunny everyday. I should remember it like this.

So I need to find a place to anchor to list the boat on craigslist. I think closer to seattle is better. I was thinking poulsbo but if you think it would sell in friday harbor I can do that too. Anywhere really.

Anyone have an idea how small boats are selling these days? I figure someone the weekend after this one is going to be looking for a boat and why would t they buy mine?

Tips are appreciated. Have t sold too many boats. Would prefer to do it quick. What should I include that will help it sell and would not just be giving away. I have it set up as a mini cruiser with dinghy, charts, books. But if it doesnt help sell or the value I will just take it with me. I was thinking probably just the boat right?

Re: Where and how much to sell my boat?

I kept a small boat just inside the Ballard Locks close to Fisherman's Terminal. Back then the rent was 60 bucks a month. Safe and Secure, easy for folks to come look at. The Ranger would be a good day sailor on Lake Union, lot's of yuppies living in Freelard who will have the change to buy your boat. Get in on the remaining Wednesday night "duck dodge" races on Lake Union, might generate some interest there. Good luck! Ballard Mill Marina might have a spot for you......

Somewhere within an hour of seattle along the i5 corridor. Requiring buyers to hop on a ferry will greatly reduce the number of people who will give it a look.

Make a good ad with high quality photos and a good price and it should sell pretty quickly.

I think there is an available non live a board slip where you met me to buy that anchor, I can get you contact info. Its about the cheapest slip on lake union.

You must be "sailed out" if you are heading for the dirt in early August...August and September in the PNW are terrific (IMO).

Good luck.

Re: Where and how much to sell my boat?

I'm not sailed out per se. I did start at the tail end of march and have had two to three months nonstop as of today. All told I think it's been almost five months. Lets see. I ought it march 25 an took two week long trips to Oregon. Other than that. Also I thought I shoul sell it before its fall so that it sells.

Alex. I would like that info please. As of right now I'm not sure what to do. I'm going to sail around the San Juan's this week and think about it.

How often would I need to check on my boat I it was tied up over winter? Does much damage occur if you leave a boat sit for months? I clean this thing twice weekly, lol. If hate to come back and hve it destroyed. And at the same time I'm obviously not a millionaire yacht owner that could have someone buffing it weekly in my absence.

Re: Where and how much to sell my boat?

Ok, so you had your fun. Price it to sell quickly. How much is it gonna cost to moor, care and look after it while your away? Pass on some goodwill to another aspiring adventurer. Maybe there is a guy around that was just like you a few months ago? Your probably not talking about a lot of money either in the big picture of things. You have a good story, worth more then money....

shadowfox, you don't have enough posts nor time in the forum to receive a PM. If you have an email address, that would be better if you don't want to wait.
