Last weekend we had one of those gem days.. windless, but clear and pristine. Took a walk around one of Vancouver's jewels, Stanley park.. It has a 10km seawall walk that connects from within the harbour, around the park, into and around False Creek, home to several marinas, former Expo 86 grounds and more recently the 2010 Olympic Athlete's Village.
A perfect day for showcasing Vancouver's scenery:
Our marina in the heart of the city:
Freighters awaiting harbour berths in the roadstead that is English Bay
This Alberg 30 didn't fare well in one of the recent windstorms...
Note the frost still on the beach where the sun hasn't hit it yet.. chilly day! West Van's toney 'British Properties' on the mountainside distant.
Siwash rock.. a significant location for early aboriginal peoples here.
Another view of False Creek taken from Granville Island.. the art deco Burrard Bridge in view, one of 3 crossings on False Creek.. the third is too low clearance for anything over 30 feet or so.
.. and all of this looked quite different yesterday!!
