Welcome to the PNW Forum

First of all a big round of appreciation to Cam and the admins here for setting this up for us.

Considering we have a huge volume of PNW'ers online here, I thought that it would be good we could have a area to discuss events here related to our specific sailing region:

While I imagine not much prompting needs to be done as we are fairly used to Sailnet, here are some ideas for usage of the forum:

1. General discussion
2. Announcing of races / upcoming cruises, and related links
3. Closures of various types (such as the locks etc), and significant changes we should be aware of as sailors.
4. Various sailing groups, share your links and announcements here as well - just please preface the title with your group name / abbreviation.
5. Discussions on various marinas, boatyards, and other local shops of interest.

The forum will only be as useful as the contributions we put into it. I am not the moderator of the forum, Sailnet was just kind enough to set this up per a request I made.

Enjoy and thanks again Cam & staff.

Hey Artbyjody and all.

I just joined PNW and it looks like a great group. I am the proud owner/payor of a 41 ft ketch. I am getting ready to sail to Alaska from my home port of Tacoma next week and one of my crew has backed out. !@#$%^&*!!

I have some wonderful people who are committed to go and I would be more comfortable with one more. If you are interested and/or know of somebody nice, let me know.

Capt: You may want to post this into the crew wanted section. When you do - also spell out expectation of the crew in terms of how expenses are handled (ie: shared, vessel handles food / lodging etc - however you have this set-up) and dates. Sounds like a fun trip!

Also, seattle-tacoma activity partners classifieds - craigslist may be a good place to post as well (its where I usually find last minute crew)....

Good luck and let us know how the trip goes!

I don't know about the rest of you folks but I can't read the above.

Edit:

Ok, so much for the disappearing Asian language lessons.

Nevermind

I have crew committed although will probably try to round up a few more. Hoping that I can get my furler replaced by then but we have a system in place now that allows us to at least raise and drop the jib ...I'll also have to get a new PHRF cert as well I think - or is this one of those you just show up and give money and your in events?
