I'll be heading south on Friday after 1600. It will be good to get off work on a ship and go have fun on a boat for a week! I'm expecting to travel to Poulsbo through the Agate Passage. Slack tide for that leg is at noon on Saturday so if I'm underway from Kingston/Edmonds at 0900 it should be no problem. Saturday Airborne goes back in the water. Wind and weather look good enough for a sail under genoa tomorrow. I've been out to sea on USS Momsen out of Everett since March and need some sailing time!

As long as you hit agate during a flood, goint to poulsbo etc, the passage is not an issue. It is actually kind of fun to go thru with the currently puts me any how at 8-9 knots with a major current. 6knots boat speed, plus 3-6 knots water depending upon the current, south is less than north end.

Port Madison on the north end of Bainbridge is a nice place to anchor at too.

Which ship is the momsen? I used to keep our boat in Everett, but the only one I really remember were the carriers, altho not the name.

Momsen is a Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, hull number 92. Not the big one, but the best.

Made it

Marty,
Yup, we made it! It was a great cruise up to Poulsbo, no problems through Agate Pass. Port Orchard on Sunday at the POYC reciprocal dock. I forgot your boat name and didn't have internet to look you up. Poor planning on my part. Monday was Blake Island on a mooring. I got to try out my rowing dinghy and found out I had a burnt out anchor light. Then over to Bell Harbor Marina downtown to meet my folks who flew in from PA. Wednesday up in Kingston for an easy overnight.

Not much sailing except for a circumnavigation of Blake Island because the wind was always on the nose! I did get some good breezes out of Poulsbo down in to the northern part of Port Orchard.

Thanks for the info. I'm a lot more confident now cruising Puget Sound.

-Nate
