Home after 19 days

The crew of Turicum pulled into Victoria Harbour around noon last Sunday after 19 days from Maui. One of the family of the one of the crew posted our track on Google Maps along with some of the postings we sent back.

TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL

The trip was upwind the almost the whole way. We did some powering to get through the worst of the Pacific high which then shifted way north giving us strong northerlies for the last few days. We did not fare as badly was one of the other boats which had 36 hours of gale force winds.

I am home until September 1 - and then headed out into the Pacific on another trip around Vancouver Island.

Pictures to follow.

Jack

Congratulations! One of my buddies crewed on the Turicum delivery back from Hawaii four years ago and they had some very harrowing experiences including a storm that took off most of the rudder causing them to have very wild steerage the rest of the way. All of the crew abandoned ship at Victoria when they docked there instead of going all of the way to Vancouver as contracted. The skipper is a racer and didn't know the meaning of heaving to in a storm or anything else but go for it!
