Some good news from the Canadian Senate - Lighthouses

Who says the Senate does nothing?

Quote:
A Senate committee says Canadian lighthouses still need the human element, at least for now.

The fact-finding committee travelled to both coasts in November to study lighthouses and talk to lightkeepers, residents and businesses who live and operate on the east and west coast.

Senator Bill Rompkey, chair of the committee, said the department of fisheries and oceans should immediately halt its de-staffing plans and make decisions on a case-by-case basis.

The committee, in releasing its report Tuesday, also said a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis should be done on the full range of services that lighthouse keepers provide.
Lighthouses should remain staffed, Senate report says - thestar.com

This would take the US Senate 2 years and 2 million dollars to come up with the conclusion they would need to study it further,

Trust me, I work in the US Capitol building and have seem them at work which is truly an oxymoron.
