Tides and currents at the same locale seldom coincide. The tides at Porlier Pass can be an hour away from the turn (slack). That is enough time to get yourself into a whole lot of difficulty. Desolation Sound gets 18 foot tides, but hardly any current.

Both the sun and the moon affect tides.

I guess the thread title could have been worded differently. Just to be clear, the data shown in the OP is to indicate the variation extremes of "current data" supplied by various applications/vendors...Not that current and tides don't match which as Jack says, they rarely do.
