That doesn't surprise me, Toba Inlet is past "hell and gone". It's not called Desolation Sound for nothing. I heard the place was for sale. The old number is 250-830-2269. You could call Desolation Yacht Charters to see if they have any info at 250-339-7222.

Re: Toba Wildernest Marina

Sea Hunter has it right.
They may likely only fire up their genny once in a while which means they would be without communication the rest of the time. I was there in the late fall and they were around with a few boats in. If it is closed, the floats will still be there for you to tie up. I haven't heard anything about it closing.

Re: Toba Wildernest Marina

IMHO you are better off to anchor at the north end of Waddington Channel and skip the TWR altogether. We tied up there one day after reading many positive reviews planning to spend the night. Met the owner/manager who told us all the "rules" (what you can't do). We had our dog on a leash by our boat at the end of the float when Mr. Manager came stomping down the float and told us we couldn't have the dog on the dock. He picked up the water bowl we had put on the dock and threw it onto our boat. His dog was running loose all over and there was another dog on the dock that he walked by to get to us. Granted our dog did bark when his dog started barking, but that was all we could figure out that ticked him off. We decided not to stay and walked around trying to find him to tell him we were leaving and why, but he was no where to be found. We shoved off and headed for Waddington. About two miles off he comes roaring up along side us in his powerboat and yells and shouts at us about not paying temporary moorage ($10, which we had never heard of). He got done screaming at us and turned around. Hope the place sold and there is a rational person running it, this was two summers ago.
