PSC 37 Bimini Help
I would appreciate some help installing a bimini on my PSC 37. I want to set the mounts for the port and starboard support tubes on the teak aft of the primary winches but I am not sure how far behind the winches to set them. I have a general idea looking at photos on line, but if anyone has done this and has the exact distance behind the winches I would appreciate it. Also, I would be interested in the overall fore/aft length. 6 to 6.5 feet looks about right, but I would like to leave enough room to possibly add a dodger in the future. I plan to make it 72 inches high from the cockpit deck which will require raising the boom/cutting the sail accordingly (bimini cut). According to PSC, you can raise the boom a max of 10Ē, but they donít have any overall dimensions for the bimini itself. Thanks.

Re: PSC 37 Bimini Help
I'll try to get you some pictures this weekend. I have a bimini on the boat, and the supports are on the teak. Honestly I have never fully set it up, it is folded back out of the way. The supports are still connected in this arrangement and there are some issues. The one thing about the supports is that if you set them behind the winches you have to account for how the sheets lead from the turning blocks to the winches as you wrap around the winch. One sheet will be on the outer side of the winch (port) and the other on the inside of the winch (Star) so it is hard to make everything symmetrical. On Atlas, the sheets end up barely touching the supports and I have some concerns about wear.

I raised my boom 10 inches and had the sail cut and made enough space for a bimini and solar on top. It all seems to,work, well.

Here are a few pics and measures of the Bimini on my boat. It would be worth doing the 10'' raise as I don't quite have enough headroom. Note the sheets and how tight they are on the supports. You will have to plan for this during the installation.

Re: PSC 37 Bimini Help
Thanks- this really helps. I think if I mount them inboard a little I can still get a backing plate on and avoid the interference. I will check it out this afternoon.
