I thought I had already posted it but don't see it now so here (?again?) are:
Fav Anchorages in Bahamas: A Highly Opinionated List

Abacos
Manjack, get permission from owners to hike across to ocean side. Amazing what years of hard work can do to improve a Bahamas island.
Bakers Bay -- used to be fun to explore the defunct deveopment which is now somewhat less defunct but still a great explore in 2011.
Anywhere along Tilloo and Lynard Cays
Sandy Cay for settled weather snorkeling in fabulous protected park

Moorings: Man-O-War, Hope Town, and Little Harbor, each very different from the other but each rewarding if you can afford

Eleuthera
Royal Island, development on hold, lots of room to anchor with excellent protection all around except S
Glass Window, settled weather only but if you can it is worth it.
Hatchet Bay, free moorings if you can get one, 360 degree protection, interesting community
Governor's Harbor, not much for protection, but an interesting community, great view from top of floor of the Library
Rock Sound. Poor protection from S, SW, and W during a Norther, otherwise sung with good provisions before heading to Exumas. GREAT beaches on East side of Island

Moorings:
Moorings in Spanish Wells (in the North) and Hatchet Bay in the middle are the only ones we know of. Hatchet Bay are free, Spanish Wells are not but are still worth a stop in this old Loyalist town.

Exumas
This entire chain is one perfect anchorage after another -- as long as a Norther is not imminent. Some of our favorites:
NE corner of Highborne Cay, rarely visited, good snorkeling near by, OK except in N and NE winds
Hawksbill Cay, northern anchorage, part of Exuma Land Sea Park (ELSP), fabulous beaches, lots of trails among ruins of Loyalist settlers. amazing place.
Shroud Cay, part of ELSP, and absolutely gorgeous with miles of creeks through shallow mangrove
creeks (watch for "wildlife" below) leading to the ocean side which is to die for. Also, in season tropic birds in mating rituals.
All the little Cays and creeks between Exuma Land Sea Park and Black Point
Black Point, a wonderful community that is very accommodating to cruisers yet still retains community feel. Get to know people slowly and you will be rewarded.
Little Farmers, anchoring can be challenging in wind and current but if you get there for the 5 F festival you will love it. Also good snorkeling on reefs outside.
Cave Cay, a gem in the right weather
Lee Stocking, High on our list of places we want to go
Georgetown, Good provisioning, great if you want more social life, otherwise a good quick stop on your way to ???????

Moorings:
Warderick Wells, 3 different spots with moorings; lots of boats but also lots of trails through different micro climates, can learn a lot about Bahamas flora, fauna, and people here. More crowded than our usual but we still love it. We often take moorings here rationalizing it as supporting the fabulous work of the park.
