Crealock 37 Yawl

Does anyone know about this boat or ones like it? It's the Crealock 37 Yawl Cutter shown on Yacht World. It has a Volvo Penta MD11C saildrive. A friend has made an offer on the boat and I told him I would move it to Houston for him. Wanted to check if anyone knew about the boat history, etc.

Are you referring to the 1977 model located in Ft. Lauderdale?

If so, that is a Crealock 37 yawl, as you point out. But it is not a Pacific Seacraft. It appears to be one of the original Crealock 37s that was built by Cruising Consultants (CC). When CC shut down (after building a couple dozen, I think), Pacific Seacraft acquired the moulds and built these boats for almost 30 years. Not many of the PSC boats were yawls (most were cutter or sloop rigged). The interior of this boat appears to have been built up entirely from wood, where as most of the PSC boats had a fibreglass pan (early on PSC sold some hulls/decks as kits, both with and without the pan). The portlights are different from those used by PSC too. And PSC did not use the saildrive engine arrangement (they put the prop in a skeg aperture and went with a conventional shaft).

The design has received many accolades and has a reputation for solid seaworthiness -- but I don't know much about the build quality of the CC boats.

That boat was from Houston - sat for a long time because of sail drive issues - ( I understand that it has been resolved) be very careful on your inspection - I had talked to Crealock, interestingly enough he desighed it with a saildrive in mind AND tiller. CC hulls were usually fiinished by Westery in Costa Mesa, some of the old timers may still be there. You should get teh hhull number and call.

Still be careful on checking out the saildrive with electrical isolation - find someone (not necessarly a surveyor) to check it out for you.
