Belaying pins
I finally got around to making some belaying pins for my granny bars. I think they're going to be really handy for storing lazy halyards (so I can sleep). Fun project. Take a look and tell me what you think. And no comments about my lack of varnishing talent:)

Very nice! And the granny bars look really secure.
By the way I had a look through the rest of the album and I see you have some wiring wrapped in ... some helical black wrapping stuff. If I may beg to know, what is the term for that helical black wrapping stuff? |
It's called "spiral wrap". Ace Hardware (and maybe HD/Lowes) should carry it. Here's an on-line site

I think they just call it spiral wrap. You should be able to find it at any auto parts store. I think it is pretty popular with car audio installers for bundling wires, especially when individual wires need to exit the bundle along the way.

Bill,
I drilled 1/2 inch holes while the hadles were still in the lathe. The pins are 1/2 inch stainless round bar epoxied about 1 1/2 inches deep in the handle. Adam Owens PSC 31 Journey |
