John, et al

I don't mean to revive this (but I will since you've done all the work)...I am living aboard an '86 version of the 34' and have been taking a look at the SSB wiring/lack thereof. There once was a SSB installed: the backstay is insulated, there is part of an antenna tuner installed, and the head unit is in pieces in a box I have.

I can only assume that this hull has the copper mesh installed into the fiberglass: I don't know what it should look like and am hoping it is plain as day or painted...any thoughts?

Did you end up making the wiring connections and if so could you enlighten me on where?

When you mentioned the strap 2" "behind the electrical panel", were you referring to "aft" or "outboard?" I am just trying to look in the right place.

I saw on Dave M's website that he installed copper foil under the chart table during his refit...did not all PSC 34's come with the wire mesh in the hull?

Thanks for your help with this, I am new to the forums and appreciate all the answers out there waiting to be found!

-Chris

The copper grounding foil passes through the back of the electric panel compartment behind the deck drain hose and above the plywood that supports the ground and negative busses.

You can see it in the photo. It is the red stripe in the upper part of the electrical panel cutout. Once you find it on your boat, you will see it in many nooks and cranies. There are other photos that show the copper in the album.

Thanks for the pointers and unique photos; this hull has carpet-lined bulkheads which make sighting the fiberglass difficult but I dug around and id'd what you mentioned. Thanks again!
