Demise of Loran-C

Just passing on as information a notice I received reference termination of Loran-C transmissions on February 8, 2010. Most of us I'm sure are using GPS as a primary and most likely have a backup but some of us still had the old Loran receivers on board. We have a Micrologic Mariner Loran that was connected to our Datamarine CDX distance/course display that used an older NMEA 0180 format. I don't believe the newer GPS units are capable of 0180 output? Not sure if there is a way to convert 0183 to 0180 which is what most newer receivers are using?

Who still uses it?

? ... I'd be curious to know.

Anyway, here's a link to the official notice.
