Question New Prop for PSC 31

While heading north of the ICW lost the prop off the shaft ( of course right at a lift bridge.) Able to hoist sail and get to place to drop anchor and check prop. It wasn't there! Have been towed to Ft. Lauderdale. You 31 owners, what prop do you have and what do you recommend. What diameter and pitch do you have. Does anyone have a Campbell Sailor and if so what do you think of it. We are in the Fort Lauderdal area and does anyone recommend a boat mechanic or yard here?

This is what I was told by Fred Hutchison at PYI. "The standard 3 blade propeller is 16" diameter by 11" (20 degrees on a Max-Prop)."

I'm very satisfied with the MaxProp.

T37Chef will become famous soon enough
FWIW, my vote is for a Campbell Sailor, friend just put one on his C&C 35 and is very pleased with it. If I ever need to replace my Autostream feathering prop I would choose the CS no question.

I am very happy with my Max-Prop. This last trip I was sailing in light winds and noticed my crew hadn't feathered the prop when he shut down the engine. I feathered it and our speed increased 1 mph instantly! Big smile.

The secret to sailing is good judgment. Good judgment comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgment.

Many thanks for the suggestions. The Max Prop is a bit out of my range presently. I have ordered a Michigan Wheel 3 blade 15" x9" which will be put on tomorrow. PCS company had both 15x9 and 16x10 in their historical files. Will definitely get a second prop and will be discussing this with West for a Campbell sailor. Will post to let the list know what seems to work.

Suspect that about 450 miles ago ( a lot of sailing and not much motoring) we did grab a stern dock line momentarily. Suspect that that partially sheard the pin. Did take a quick glance at the prop in the clear water of the Dry tortugas and it looked fine.
