Crossing the stern lines on a PS31

The PS 31 seems to be disigned for the stern lines not to cross. The cleats are forward from the stern, with no fairleads, and the standoffs on the ladder are in the way as well.

My current slip, however, is very narrow, so I am thinking that I must cross the stern lines to keep the boat centered without shortening the lines to the point that they no longer allow for tidal excursion.

I can let the ladder hang down, I think, and it will not be in the water if I keep it folded.

I can use the anchor roller as a fairlead on the port side, and on starboard I was thinking of mounting a line chock (Accon Marine make a nice pop-up chock)

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

We cross our lines and like you described they would chafe against the swim ladder. I don't know if this would work for you, but our solution was to pull the ladder off the transom when we leave the boat in the slip for any extended period of time. The ladder is held to the stern brackets by stainless pins with slip rings to hold them in place. I purchased two new pins with the small ball/springs to elimniate the need for cotters or slip rings, which makes removing and reinstalling the ladder very quick.
