head-liner repair

My headliner is starting to tear at the edge of the where the
headliner folds under the mast support pole. Any ideas how
I can repair or at least prevent further tearing?
Tom

When we bought Irish Eyes in 2004 there was a 2" rip in the headliner in the corner of the galley. It is still there. With time I had stopped seeing it. Your note made it visible again.

I recovered the vinyl on the plywood ceiling piece over the ice box some time ago and had saved the old very badly stained vinyl that I removed. I tore a small piece of the saved vinyl and patched the torn spot with a "Permatex Vinyl & Leather Repair Kit" I bought at Advance for practice. It did not turn out too badly. I did not get the color exactly right, but it is certainly a better match than the hole.

I'm going to work on getting a better color match then take a try at the rip the next time I get down to the boat.
