Engine Cut Off Cable

Has anyone replaced the engine cut off cable on their Pacific Seacraft?

I am trying to replace the engine cut off cable on my '88 31 PSC. The cable has a Morse part number stamped on it but the number does not appear on the web.

It looks like Teleflex has replaced Morse but I cannot find a conversion chart for the part numbers.

Can any control cable of the right length do just as well?

I replaced mine and bought it from PSC to be sure I had the right one.

As long as it's the correct length with the right cable terminations, any quality cable should work fine.

Engine Cut Off Cable

Larry, Ryan,

Thanks for the replies. Sorry to be so long, I have been gone for a week.

I tried to call Pacific Seacraft today but they are probably gone for the day so I sent them an e-mail.

I would love to just grab a cable from West Marine but I am leery of getting the fittings right.

Engine cut off cable part 2

Well, you cannot get an engine cut-off cable from Pacific Seacraft anymore. They no longer use them. The new boats all use a solenoid instead.

I still have not found a conversion chart for the original Morse cable to Teleflex (they bought Morse).

I guess the best shot is to try to see if I can find a West Marine cable with terminations that match the old cable.

The engine cables on my new-to-me PSC 31 were replaced last week. The boat is due to be delivered on Thursday and I will check to see if there is a party number on the receipt.

When I replaced mine I used the Yanmar cable (part #104271-67550). The terminations were all correct but the cable looks a little whimpy compared to morse cable.

cut off from sailing another weekend cable

Al,

Thanks for the offer to check your cable. That would would really help.

Adam, thanks. A Yanmar part number makes it look like one way or another I should be good to stop soon.

John:

I'm afraid that my scheduled delivery was a victim of Earl. The boat is now due here a week from today. I'll check then.

cut off

Al,

Thanks, I have some unanticipated travel tomorrow so I won't be back until next Friday anyway. This should not be as big a deal as I am making it. I am mostly concerned about getting the terminations right.
